the world ends with you
a game for the ds by square enix
(im not done with this page so there is just some empty stuff at the bottom...i am sorry lol)
so basically there are five main characters, neku, shiki, joshua, beat, and rhyme. the main gameplay of the game is that you play while looking at both screens of the ds at the same time. it sounds really hard at first, but i like it and it is kind of overwhelming in a good way... well, you'll understand if you try it.
so basically, the top is controlled with the buttons, and the bottom with the touch screen. also, there are certain moves you can choose for the bottom screen to attack with, along with clothes which add stats that change the gameplay style, and all this is to say that there are a ton of different playing strategies.
so i am going to go over some basic tips, along with just some other things i have noticed when playing the game
first things first:
brandsthere are 12 different brands (13 counting one that is basically useless except for the endgame) based off the 12 zodiac animals. if you don't know about that, basically the order is mouse->ox->tiger->rabbit->dragon->snake->horse->sheep->monkey->rooster->dog->boar. thats useful to know since thats how the game sorts clothes + pins by default
stores sell clothes and pins, which is basically how you chose your attacks. if you are wearing a pin then you can perform the attack. enemies also drop pins as well.
anyway, these brands have different price ranges, focus on different stat boosts, have different styles, things like that... oh, and also, certain brands will be more popular in certain areas, so if you like to fight a lot in a certain area (such as a district where the enemies drop lots of money), then invest in pins popular there since that will give you ATK boosts. however, if you already have a set of powerful pins you want to use pertaining to one brand, then also invest in clothes from the same brand. the more you fight in an area wearing a specific brand, the higher its popularity will grow. if you get it to the top then you can get all the pin boosts without being confined to a specific district.
and of course there is the bravery stat. some clothing requires higher BRV which can be an issue for certain characters. beat, neku, and joshua all have low bravery compared to shiki so focus on stat grinding for them in the beginning of the game.
but first, below is a table summarizing the brands and some notes about them and things like that. i am also gonna try and get some screenshots of all the clothes available in my copy of the game since i don't think those are online yet.
brand: | animal: | sold at: | notes: |
rat | 104, Cadoi, Molco, Shibukyu Main Store | cheap clothes that dont require a lot of BRV or money. there are a lot of puck-pass speed boosts here, so one strategy is to stack a lot of puck-speed boosting clothes and the puck will go really fast, which racks up a lot of power if you are good at switching between fighting on the two screens.
ox | 104, Molco | a lot of shiki-support stat boosts. recommended item is the diamond bikini which will give shiki 3 fusions at the start of every battle.
tiger | Molco | a lot of ATK boosting clothes
rabbit | A-East | very high BRV, and a few shiki stat boosts clothes + one joshua stat boost. you will see this store pretty early on in the game, but the prices are quite high for the minimal benefits so i dont reccomend buying anything until later in the game
dragon | Shibukyu Main Store | joshua's favorite brand, many stat boosts for him
snake | mostly ups offensive status infliction chances (such as attack/defense break)
horse | Shibu Dept. Store | super expensive but highly boosts stats, the cashiers have funny reactions to you buying stuff in there
sheep | Molco | lots of defense boosting clothes
monkey | Cat Street | neku's favorite brand, lots of stat boosts for him
rooster | Shibukyu Stationside | mainly accesories
dog | Cadoi | boosts defense stats, the game will mainly guide you towards using this brand at the beginning of the game but after week 3 it is advised to use different brands
boar | 104, Udagawa | beat's favorite brand, many stat boosts for him
cat | everywhere | high BRV and high prices, you can't even really buy their stuff unless you're almost done with the game but they mostly boost ATK stats by a large amount |
on certain days, specific areas of the map will be closed off. this means there are certain stores you can't go to, so you'll have to plan accordingly.
